My name is Giselle Basquez, and I’m so excited to be your child’s third grade bilingual teacher here at Brook Avenue Elementary! This will be my fourth year teaching and my sixth year as part of the amazing Brook Avenue family. I’m currently working toward my Master of Education in Bilingual Education and English as a Second Language at Texas Tech University. I also hold an Associate of Arts in General Academics from McLennan Community College and a Bachelor of Human Sciences from Texas Tech.
In our classroom, I aim to create a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment where every student feels seen, supported, and inspired to do their best. We’ll build a strong community together—where curiosity is encouraged, kindness is celebrated, and learning is an exciting adventure every day.
This year, my students and I will work together to:

¡Mi nombre es Giselle Basquez y estoy muy emocionada de ser la maestra bilingüe de tercer grado de su hijo/a aquí en la Primaria Brook Avenue! Este será mi cuarto año como maestra y mi sexto año como parte de la maravillosa familia de Brook Avenue. Actualmente estoy cursando mi Maestría en Educación Bilingüe y Enseñanza del Inglés como Segundo Idioma en la Universidad de Texas Tech. También tengo un título de Asociado en Artes de McLennan Community College y una Licenciatura en Ciencias Humanas de Texas Tech.
En nuestro salón de clases, me esfuerzo por crear un ambiente cálido, acogedor e inclusivo donde cada estudiante se sienta valorado, apoyado e inspirado para dar lo mejor de sí. Juntos construiremos una comunidad sólida, donde la curiosidad se fomenta, la amabilidad se celebra y el aprendizaje es una aventura emocionante todos los días.

My name is Jo Heyduck and I've been with Brook for 13 years. I actually came to Brook as the counselor but after 10 years I wanted to return to the classroom to teach. Even though I've always taught 4th-7th grade, there was a need in 3rd grade for a teacher and here I am three years later and loving it! Before I became the counselor at Brook, I was the 5th grade math teacher at Provident Hts Elementary. I love math and I want the students to love math as well! I look forward to an exciting year of learning and academic progress. Thank you for allowing your students to be a part of our Brook family.

Hello! I am Ms. Sanchez. This is my 8th year teaching at our school, and I’m excited to be working with 3rd grade reading this year. I have a true passion for teaching and believe my purpose is to inspire a love of learning, build confidence, and help each student reach their full potential. I love watching my students grow, gain independence, and thrive both in and out of the classroom. I’m thrilled to begin a new school year and can’t wait to see what the future holds for our class!
