Hello! My name is Lisa Bacuss and I am teaching 5th grade math and science. I graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Education. I graduated from Tarleton State University with a Masters of Education in Educational Administration. I have 26 years of experience in education and have held many different roles throughout the years.
In our classroom, I strive to create an environment that is safe and structured where students feel loved and valued. Our classroom community is built on the foundation of Brook Avenue’s core values of being safe, respectful, and responsible. I look forward to all of the great things our 5th graders will achieve this year!
On a fun note, my first teaching job in Waco in 2000, was teaching 5th grade at Brook Avenue in the same classroom I am currently teaching in! Brook Avenue and the Brook Avenue community is very special to me!

Hello Brook Avenue Families! I am Darius Young, and I am a dedicated educator with 13 years of teaching experience in elementary education.
As a 5th Grade ELAR teacher, I strive to create engaging learning experiences that build literacy skills, encourage critical thinking, and help students reach their full potential.
I am passionate about supporting student growth and creating a classroom environment where every child feels valued and empowered to succeed.
